Anglicus Translations is celebrating after its Head Translator was shortlisted for a coveted award at the Association of Translation Companies’ (ATC) 2016 Language Industry Summit Awards.

Melanie Smith of Anglicus Translations, Merseyside, has been recognised as one of only three shortlisted linguists in the Supplier of the Year category. The winner will be announced during a gala awards dinner that forms part of the ATC’s 40th anniversary conference on September 22 at the QEII Conference Centre in London. The Language Industry Summit Awards are designed to celebrate success in the sector, with nominees being recognised by the judges for their commitment to excellence.

George Cook, Managing Director of STB, who submitted the nomination, said: “Melanie is the complete package. From the outset, her experience has always shone through and we know we can rely on her to produce work of the highest quality – on time, every time. She has gone from strength to strength and we are delighted to work with someone whose impeccable standards of quality and customer service match our own.”

Commenting on her nomination, Melanie added: “I was both surprised and delighted to hear that I had been shortlisted. I feel very passionately about the job that I do and the importance of the language sector in our country, and I am very proud that my commitment has been recognised at the highest possible level by such a distinguished panel of judges.”

This year’s judging panel comprises Rudy Tirry, president of the European Union of Associations of Translation Companies, Sarah Griffin-Mason, chair of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting, Laura Brandon, executive director of the Globalization and Localization Association and Geoffrey Bowden, general secretary for the ATC, who was the non-voting chair of the judging panel.
